burr studio, house renovation

JM55 transforms a 1970s apartment in Madrid into an experimental dwelling. Originally a 40m² space with two bedrooms, a bathroom, living room, and kitchen, the redesign removes divisions to create an open layout. A central core houses all facilities, with the toilet as the only isolatable element. Spaces merge, allowing unconventional uses like sleeping in the bathroom or showering in the living room. White tiling marks wet areas, while ceiling rails and textile divisions create temporary, customizable spaces for privacy or specific activities. Curtains reflect their intended uses, such as quilts for the bedroom and folded felt for the study.
